No, the entire concept of linguistic drift, morphology, and crosslinguistic transfer does that.

Tons of words in English come from other languages, and mutated into their present forms distinct from their original etymology. The same is also true for other languages. Like it or not, those words effectively become "English" when they become part of the English lexicon.

It's part of the reason why we're not all speaking Proto-Indo-European right now.
