The same shitty article you're referencing states 2 people earning min wage can afford a place for 30% of their salary

People have a right to a roof over their head. Not to have their own 1 bed room apartment
Many people aren't comfortable with roommate situations. And I've seen why, I've heard stories of people getting beaten by their roommates (Co worker, is blind because of it) their places being ransacked by roomies(old high school friends) roomies just refusing to pay etc. Is a big risk doing this so I get that you can afford rent with a roommate but this is both risky and scary for people. And if you think it's okay for people to be able to work full time on min wage and even above that and either go into debt, have zero recreation money, or starve/not go to the doctor to pay their rent by themselves in shit ghetto studios that's pretty depressing.
