A&E's police programming has gone well beyond portraying police in a positive light According to that first link, they destroy all unused footage 30 days after an investigation has concluded, and nobody ever asked them for said footage in this case. It wasn't until 15 months later that people started digging and by then it was long gone. That... isn't exactly "destroying evidence", especially since A&E knew the cops also had body cams.
