It's been said before, but "the cruelty is the point," and the people who help to enforce it know what they're signing up for. Systematic extermination, gas chambers and cremation ovens included were all part of orders. If you actually look at the various Nuremberg trials themselves, the high profile ones all went well out of their way & beyond expectations to do all kinds of horrible shit they weren't ordered to do. They were not brow beaten disciplined obedient soldiers.
