Because no one is getting rich off the post office, it's that simple. Mail has to run, so whoever gets the contract to handle it will make a mint. The GOP has wanted to privatize the USPS for decades. Also we have been contracting out some of our military work out to PMCs, which is the first step. A military handled primarily by PMC would be loyal to their contract and not the constitution.
And yes part of this is about intentionally fucking over absentee or mail-in voters.
