Much of this land is privately owned and managed for wood or pulp. Most of the land owned by the State is forested. Pennsylvania's forest land area totals 16.8 million acres, covering 58 percent of the area in the Commonwealth New Jersey is 42 percent forested. 62 percent of New Jersey's forests are privately owned.
