It's just for the simple fact that sometimes you need to have shows with important social messages and sometimes you need to be allowed to have fun. Fresh Prince touched upon racism once or twice, but it wasn't the show's bread and butter. You could easily tell the story of a change in economic and social status for a young Black man without tying it to the Fresh Prince name.
