Botw is a more polished experience and the content that's there isn't mostly filler Most of BotW's map is filler. It's a bigger (albeit prettier) waste of space than Hyrule Field in OoT OhhhJa posted... Botw isn't an rpg. Which is no excuse for not offering more places to explore and things to fight with a map that huge.
