Do you not understand the difference between hurting a business/person because you decide not to give YOUR money to it, and destroying it's lives/reputation because a person is a psycho who believes they have the right to ruin their lives/career?

There is no difference. You can sugarcoat it as "it's my choice as a consumer" all you want, but at the end of the day, you're deciding that the business/person in question doesn't deserve to get money from you and withholding it accordingly. If you feel strongly enough about it, you share your rationale for doing so, in which case other people may jump on the same bandwagon. If your rationale is reasonable and/or popular enough and enough other people make the same decision (a decision to which they are all entitled as normal customers), the business or person may find themselves facing catastrophic failure as a result of that decision.

The difference you're seeing is not a matter of a difference in the fundamental logic or process. It's the difference between success and failure. You may not like it, but this is what peak capitalism looks like.
