If I say or do something stupid, yeah, it'd be rather embarrassing to be called out on it, but the lesson that would come from such a mistake would make it worth it; I'd take my lumps and move on. However, being on the receiving end of such a rude and ignorant comment? Not going to let that go without at least a couple rounds to make it clear what's going on, and I think that's pretty clear by now.

You chose to posit she's suffering from a specific consequence of a specific form of malnutrition from a specific type of diet.

Had you even said that "people like her" were the result of malnutrition in general, that would still be coming out of left field, even though grossly more likely (by virtue of being less specific).

Your intention here was obviously to poke fun at veganism. And it just made you look silly.
