I was actually thinking of this one, which I looked up to make sure I wasn't inventing its existence: https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/USS_Enterprise_(NCC-1701-D)?file=USS_Enterprise-D%2C_anti-time_future.jpg
Oh man, I didn't remember this at all.

Antitime Future Enterprise-D
This is one ugly ship. I completely understand the idea of showing the ship refit, since it's established that happens occasionally, but the Federation's aesthetic only works with even-numbered nacelles, I'm sorry.

Tuvix
Another transporter accident, eh? Because the nomination specifies "the concept of Tuvix," I'll limit my writeup to that instead of Janeway's psychopathic response to Tuvix. Basically, it's one of the more interesting ideas VOY has. What if two people merge, but instead of just being a dude with all of their knowledge, he has a unique personality, desires, needs, and uniform? ... They probably should've gotten rid of the uniform, though. Poor Tuvix. He's a cool idea, but the only thing people remember him for is begging Janeway not to kill him.

Earth
The galaxy's most boring planet, which is how it should be. Earth works best as the perfect utopia the heroes talk about but that we don't really see much of.

The Mycelial Network
This might be the single plot element in Discovery I hate the most. I hate everything in Discovery, of course, and I could rant about it for a while, but the Mycelial Network is on a whole different level.

Here's the thing: it's the Force. It's the Force, but they added a science word to make it sound less stupid. "Interdimensional mushrooms connect all life and existence" is pretty stupid, of course, but then you get to its usage. Teleporting ships are just the start. They resurrect the doctor somehow, don't ask me how it happens, they allow travel to different dimensions, and Mirror Stametz creates a machine that will blow up "the multiverse" (the exact words used) if the heroes don't stop it. They have the power to do anything, is what I'm saying. And why? Why has no other civilization ever discovered the secrets of interdimensional mushrooms?

I want to emphasize the mushroom aspect, by the way. There is no reason for it to be mushrooms specifically. Nothing is done with that concept. They just wanted to use a science word.

The Cage
Ah, the original pilot. Honestly, it's good, but it was a wise choice to make a new one. The Cage is very slow and pondering. It's not as bad as something like Space: 1999, which bores me to tears even as a guy who likes boring space stuff, but making TOS slightly more action-y worked to its advantage. It's hard to expand on The Cage without talking about DIS, and I made a conscious decision not to talk about it unless someone brings it up through a nomination, so I'll end it there.

Lwaxana Troi
Does literally anyone like her? Are there Lwaxana Troi fanboys out there I don't know about? I know she's written to be annoying, because all of the characters groan whenever she shows up, but give me a break, that means you still know she's annoying. The only good thing that she ever added was the scene where Picard looks relieved when someone tells him she's getting married.

Miles O'Brien
O'Brien is the most 'normal guy' of any Star Trek, at least of the characters who are actually characters (hello, Mayweather). He works as your down-to-earth mechanic guy in a way that isn't grating, as opposed to that one mechanic on Discodammit. Like with Harry Kim, they paired him up with a more interesting character: Bashir. Unlike with Harry Kim, they managed to still make O'Brien interesting in his own right. Poor guy is still married to a Japanese hate ghost, though.

O'Brien doesn't have a lot of epic dramatic decisions to make. He leaves that to the officers and just focuses on his job as a mechanic and occasionally shooting at Cardassians. To me, the defining Miles O'Brien moment is Best of Both Worlds. In part 2, LeVar Burton had to drop out of the filming, which is why he only appears for five seconds. They gave his part of "Guy who reads a computer that analyzes the captured Borg-Picard" to O'Brien, since he was the next most tech-y guy besides Data (who already had a part). So O'Brien is reading the computer, telling Data and Crusher about what's going on in Picard's borgified brain, when Picard goes nuts and tries to kill them all. The heroes have to stop him, and O'Brien just looks over, then looks back to the computer. "Not my job," you can read it on his face. I love it.

Leonard McCoy (Abramsverse)
By far the best of the Abramsverse versions, McCoy is the only one who I would say is as good as the original and manages to capture the original's spirit. Spock is wildly inferior to the original, Kirk, Scotty, and Chekov are parodies of themselves, Uhura is a completely different character, and Sulu... Actually, okay, Sulu is as good as the original, too, for whatever that's worth. Karl Urban manages to play a cantankerous doctor as well as DeForest Kelley. He's trying and failing to carry those movies, and I respect that.
