It's VERY recent news so I'm still waiting for more information. But there is at the very least one gynecologist at one of the detention centers performing an alarming number of hysterectomies. And it sounds like in many cases the actual medical need for the procedure has not been proven and in other cases the consent given by the patient has been dubious. Some of them were given multiple explanations for why they needed a procedure at all.
At this point I don't think we know if this is the result of a systemic or organizational issue or if this is the result of one terrible person performing unnecessary procedures for his own personal gain. But it's a disgusting tragedy no matter how you slice it so I hope they are able to determine everyone involved swiftly.
Sounds like you are taking an unconfirmed rumor as fact. The person says they are unsure of how many or it's unclear. The doctor vehemently denies it. Etc.
