You know, the article keeps referring back to the 2000 election.

And that just reminds me...

The election every 10th year is given much greater importance than any others due to it being a Census year, when districts are determined and set. Arguably as important overall as a presidential election year that isn't also a Census year. And when the two collide... as in 2000 and 2020....it's a generation-defining election, utterly unmatched in importance.
It's also well known that Republicans do better in non-presidential election years and Democrats do better in presidential election years... because the latter has higher voter turn out, which helps Dems.

So...Reps obviously rode their inherent advantage to wins in 1990 and 2010. Dems *should* have had the edge in 2000 and 2020 (again generally), to counter-balance this. Instead, 2000 was mired in controversy and 2020 seems like it'll make that look utterly docile by comparison.
Utterly fucking over Democrats both times. In the most critical elections for them to tip the scales back from the years of Republican dominance.

*loud "Hmmmm"-ing noises*
