No, he's not.

Yes, he is.
When Swisher confronted Musk with the possibility that people would still die in the process, he replied bluntly: "Everybody dies." "The question is what, on balance, serves the greater good," Musk continued, adding that the lockdowns did not accomplish that and the pandemic is a "no-win situation." Musk, the third-richest person in the world according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, tweeted in April that nationwide stay-at-home orders amounted to "de facto house arrest.

Whether or not you agree with this has nothing to do with him being observant to the current situation. I think this is a very blatant poke at the fact that closing borders and businesses did more harm then good to the economy of America had we just went on as business as usual in March/April. Yeah, people would have died, but the economy wouldn't have tanked so hard.

It's a tough stance to take and it won't be popular. His understanding isn't a horrible one if you can suspend morals for a moment and see what "the greater good" is. If people can do it for Thanos, then certainly they can do it for Musk.

Also: I'm not agreeing with his statement either, I'm merely conceding that his statement is an observation and not a popular one.
