just to clarify one thing, of course the proud boys are a white supremacist group. having people of color in your organization and constantly denouncing everything doesn't necessarily change that. tarrio was right there in charlottesville wearing body armor and an alt-knight badge. not that i think most of you need to be told this, but the alt-right is willing to lie to try and convert moderates.

this video is pretty informative about the proud boys. timestamped at a point i thought was very important: you need to watch how these people act. you can't just go by what they say.

In interviews, Tarrio has said he only supports violence as self-defense and has claimed racist and misogynistic postings by Proud Boys members are jokes meant to test the limits of free speech.

For instance, they've made rape jokes, called people "******," and referred to transgender people as "it." Tarrio brushes these off, saying he loathes how little he feels people are free to say nowadays. He claims doesn't "treat transgender people or gay people badly." He acknowledges calling Leslie Jones an ape but claims it had nothing to do with her skin color: "She just looks like an ape."

like, guys, i trust you aren't naive enough to actually buy these facile excuses. these are just more examples of how they want to appear to moderates.
