There was a time when the Code of Hammurabi was progressive. If you personally value religion, that is a conservative value. If you value order in society, that is a conservative value. If you value a moral code that you have established for yourself, that is a conservative value. It's really not as simple and partisan as people ITT are making it out to be.

Except the topic is arguing if conservatism has any place in the government. Most people would agree that, regardless of individual religious beliefs, religion has no place in any form of government, especially for a nation like the U.S. that's supposed to be secular.
