When he had the opportunity as a teenager, he set all of the slaves in his family free. He became a revered and great Kentuckian and Abolitionist in his era. Some hated him for it and actually attempted to take his life but he defended himself and even killed many of them. More details in the video Muhammad Alis original name Cassius Marcellus Clay was identical to this man. His 6th gen great grandfather was an enslaved man who was named Cassius Marcellus Clay as well.
