I feel like progressives are actually fairly good at messaging their policies. The issue comes from the Democratic establishment, the majority of who simply don't want progressive policies and will never adopt them unless there is overwhelming support, and sometimes not even then. The establishment isn't bad at messaging progressive policies - they don't message them in the first place and will often go against them when possible.
