some are used by the nhl and stuff. but what about foxes? woodchucks? box turtles? anything is better than what they have now.

If they had been smart, they would have steered into the skid of outrage, and changed the name to the arrowheads or something. Keep the Indian motif, bank some goodwill from all those people who don't even watch football but pretended to be upset by it, and they wouldn't have had to rebrand themselves too much. Hell, go with a name of an indian tribe that existed in that area, and they wouldn't even need to change the logo.

Plus, BAM, all eight washington fans would have bought all their merch a second time to support their team. Left money on the table.

And here's the rub. It doesn't matter what they change the name to now. Football fans don't ever let shit go. They will always be the Football Team now. I'm a Dolphins fan, and if fifty years from now they are the best team in the league and have won ten straight rings? Doesn't matter. They will always be the lolphins or the suckfish, until the sun engulfs our planet.

And in that moment, right before everyone on earth dies, someone, somewhere, will yell out "Hey, anyone remember the butt fumble?", and we will all die laughing, because fuck the Jets.
