Technically they can still stream with permission of the original copyright holder. For example, one could still stream a Nintendo game if they follow Nintendo's guidelines:

But, if one wanted to stream an SSBM tournament with modified versions of SSBM, it would become possible to get into serious legal trouble.

I don't think Nintendo has a copyright on a video of a particular match of SSBM unless they produced the match. Not that anyone would be willing to risk going to prison to test it in court though.
