Topic | Seriously. How much money do you have, and how do you feel about that? How old? |
IdiotMachine 12/16/20 5:13:28 PM #45: | My wife and I are both 28. We have a net worth of about $220k right now (see below for the breakdown). I'm pretty happy at where I am. I have colleagues that are much better off than me, as well as colleagues that are much worse off than me, but I think I'm leading a normal, average "white collar" life. I absolutely think having money saved up is important. I absolutely do not want my child to have to be required to take care of me... I want to be self-sufficient. In our early 20s, my wife and I blew a lot of money on vacations; we went overseas almost every few months, spending like $15k/trip. Didn't save a lot during those times... but now, we've settled down somewhat, and are focused on saving more money so that we can have a child within a couple of years. I still feel "nervous", that I can have all these things taken away from me from bad luck (e.g., laid off, lawsuits for whatever reason, accidents, health issues, etc.). Properties: $153,400 According to an appraiser during our house refinance this year in June, our house is worth $540,000. Our mortgage remaining balance is $418,500. So net $121,500. According to an appraiser during our second house purchase this year (for investment purposes) in July, the property is worth $118,000. The mortgage remaining balance is $91,400. So net $26,600. We have two MY2019 vehicles. According to Carvana's "sell your car" offer, Carvana offered: Car 1: $28,500. Remaining car loan balance is $28,400. So net $100. Car 2: $30,200. Remaining car loan balance is $25,000. So net $5,200. Cash: $28,000 In our bank accounts, we have $28,000. Investments: $115,000 In our investments (401ks, IRAs, HSAs, and non-tax-advantaged accounts), we have a total of $115,000. Student Loans: -$75,800 My wife and I both have student loans. The current balance total is $75,800. We do not have any other debt (except as shown above; e.g., we do not have credit card debt, personal loan debt, etc.). --- ... Copied to Clipboard! |
