Physical items can be shared and cannot be taken from you, but if they're damaged or stolen then you're screwed. Digital copies are freely available to re-download, but only as long as the server is active. If the source ever closes then that's it. I've been burned more than once on both physical and digital games so I know full well that neither is infallible. It really just comes down to personal preference.
