Up to the age of 4 they are just called "child". On their 4th birthday they choose their own name. On their 18th birthday they undergo some right of passage and are given a name. If they chose poorly they're stuck with it for 14 years. Other people decide what they get stuck with after that. --- No locked doors, no windows barred. No more things to make my brain seem SKARD.
