People who love it REALLY love it. People who don't get into it mostly wind up feeling like it's a boring show with a cheap special effects budget. I'd lump it in with stuff like Farscape and Lexx as sci-fi shows that have really fanatical fanbases but which won't necessarily appeal to everyone (though those are very, very different styles of show in their own ways). It's hard to say whether or not you'll really like it without watching it, though.
