Feeling a hunger for a type of food, and the satisfaction from eating delicious food, can be seen as analogous to lust and sex. Conceptually, the only difference between the two are the object of that desire, and the intensity of the emotion. There is no deep mystery. Eating food is pleasurable. Sex is pleasurable. Sex is seen, socially, as the highest form of physical pleasure. the hyperbole is the joke. There is no deeper explanation to be found. Perhaps another illustration is the antiquated practice of the elderly telling small children I could just eat you up. Their is obviously no desire to physically consume their grandchildren for sustenance, however, that consumption is seen as a way to express their intense affection. --- ... Copied to Clipboard! |
