Feeling a hunger for a type of food, and the satisfaction from eating delicious food, can be seen as analogous to lust and sex. Sex is seen, socially, as the highest form of physical pleasure. the hyperbole is the joke. There is no deeper explanation to be found. Perhaps another illustration is the antiquated practice of the elderly telling small children I could just eat you up.
