This is their logic: It's only racism if you assume that black people disproportionately own pit bulls, and if that were true then the fact that pit bulls are disproportionately involved in attacks[1] means that either pit bulls have something genetically wrong with them, or black people statistically make terrible dog owners. Since pitbull defenders believe that there is no genetic difference in aggression between breeds, the only remaining possibility is that it's the owners. Therefore, criticizing pit bulls is criticizing black people. Therefore racism. Thus, 72% of dog bite fatalities in 2018 were caused by Pit bulls. This is a highly disproportionate figure give the fact that Pit bulls are less than 7% of the total dog population.
