I mean I've heard story after story about irresponsible pet owners allowing their dogs around small animals like rodents and birds and they will absolutely kill them if they want to.
Maybe not children, but they still can cause harm.
I was bit to the point of bleeding because of the family border collie when I was 5. they absolutely do need training to prevent aggressive outbursts

it happens. I have also read and heard of stories of ferrets eating the fingers and toes of month-old babies, rats eating the face of a toddler, a cat clawing out a twitch streamers eye, etc.

dogs are not monoliths. Some breeds are very, very dangerous (eg pitbulls), some are dangerous but less so (eg Doberman), some could go either way (eg German shepherds) and some breeds are actually pretty sweet and kind or at least physically incapable of being dangerous (eg a Maltese).

you had a very bad experience and that sucks, I am sorry, but you cant say all dogs are dangerous murderous beasts. A cat is far more likely to claw you in the face if you accidentally piss him/her off than a dog is likely to bite you, unless its one of the more dangerous breeds like a pitbull
