On the surface, term limits seem like a good idea. (retire already, Feinstein). But it also limits what an effective lawmaker can do. It also potentially increases the influence of lobbyists because lawmakers will be more reliant on lobbyists (who'll continue to be there long after the congressman/senator is gone and have better relationships with more established congress members even though they haven't been there as long)

I'm fine however if Ted Cruz wants to voluntarily adhere to serving just two six-year terms. He just has to forego running for re-election.
