The most radical "advancements" in "technique" have their roots in films from the 60s and earlier, though. The technological advancements don't really improve things much after the 60s, either, and are arguably detrimental to the medium, or at least, irrelevant due to the lack of access to, or interest in, these "advancements" by more creative artists.
