Sephiroth is almost a blank slate in FFVII but at release most of us put their own personality on. Then he showed up in Kingdom Hearts, had a few spoken lines during battle and then the whole FFVII extended series happened with Advent Children, Crisis Core, Before Crisis ect. ect. And people have retroactively implanted that personality on him in OG FFVII.
