I'm not defending what she did at all, I'm just saying people have this really absurd, idealized vision of how someone should have acted back then whole ignoring seemingly every other aspect of life for people during that period of time. It's not like she could have sent an email to the Washington Post. And the sad fact is there are people who defended it or thought they weren't doing anything wrong, like this lady is defending. She was a willing participate at the time who thought everything was justified.
