Yeah they needed 17 republican votes it was impossible
Yeah, finding 17 Republicans that actually give a damn about the rule of law was clearly going to be impossible.
The impeachment basically was just to out the traitors to the American public, though I'm skeptical people will even remember in 2 years when it's time to actually face consequences. And maybe to uncover evidence for criminal trials.

Not terribly surprising. The dude is gonna be facing legal charges for the rest of his life though because of what he did in New York and Georgia, and hes gonna be in the only former president to have no real political influence or activity in diplomacy. Time to move on to better things.
I keep checking and see no updates. WTF is Cyrus Vance doing? I thought he was all set to bring NY state charges against Trump, just couldn't b/c he was in office. What's he waiting for?
after seeing Trump manage to avoid releasing his taxes for 4 years through appeals despite losing every case, I'm getting really sick of watching him "run out the clock" on justice.
Some of his crimes have 5 year statute of limitations to pursue charges, and while any sane court would rule his 4 years of being immune to prosecution (thanks, fucking DoJ memo) don't count towards that time...do we really want to take that for granted? Fuck, he can probably appeal THAT court decision for 5+ years all on its own. What's the damn hold up?
