I grew up in florida and had literally no experience whatsoever with snow or icy roads. I'd never even seen snow irl, except a very light flurry that melted before it hit the ground when I visited my aunt/uncle up in new jersey.

The first time I drove in snow/iced over roads, I had to swerve into the oncoming traffic lane, ran a 4 way stop sign to avoid a rear end collision, and later wound up skidding into a thankfully empty intersection when i stopped (this was a bit later, not immediately after).
