Vaan is admittedly awful and actively drags down nearly every scene his in, but Penelo is benign at worst, and it's hard for me to see it as much more than hatred-by-association. Zell's a good choice, too. Come to think of it, I ended up liking the whole main party of FF 8, which might explain why I was more forgiving of the plot's missteps. --- Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read. ...
