Aldrin was bizarre and offputting in person and I didnt get to spend much time chatting with Armstrong. But I did have a lovely conversation with Al Bean a few months before he passed and given he and the rest of Apollo 12 are my favorite astronauts I was extremely happy to have been able to meet him as an adult when I actually cared.
