He promised to halt deportations during his first 100 days, and he has now gone back on it. I'm not trying to do any complicated gotcha here!

I've read that his updated guidelines where he backtracked on this contain less restrictions on certain deportations that are entirely unrelated to the court battle, and certainly in that case he receives negative points. The argument goes that he lost one fight in court, and then in response has ceded even more power to ICE. As you note, he could be doing more.

If ICE officials are sad about it then good, but I would need to know what specifically they are mad about since by all accounts Biden isn't meaningfully stopping them from doing their main job of detention and deportation.

Edit: I guess really what I'm upset about is that we just got through 4 years of watching Trump obstruct, strongarm, and dismantle whatever federal agencies he want through executive action and firing people with zero consequence, but now that Biden is in we have to play by the rules when we have an actual justifiable reason to do these things. I know that sounds bad but I think we all have to get over the fact that our government is completely dysfunctional and any attempts to correct it are going to come across as aggressive regardless.
