| Kircheis 02/21/21 7:08:30 PM #18: | Bit of a niche recommendation, but try Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis. It's a bit more weeb than anything on this list, but the gameplay is really fun, legitimately one of my favorite battle systems in a turn-based JRPG. I also find it really satisfying how character progression is directly tied into how much effort you put into alchemy, and since the items you can actually acquire and synthesize are limited by your story progression, it's impossible to powerlevel (so you don't trivialize the game too much), and you won't be underpowered either as long as you synthesize everything you can whenever you can. The story is more of a slice-of-life and character driven affair with generally low stakes, which I find a really welcome change of pace from the usual world saving shenanigans. --- ...
