Slavery sucks, but it's also been a part of human culture for millennia for various reasons. What made slavery in America especially heinous (though probably not unique in all of human history) is that rather than the slavery of the victorious in combat or society, it was the enslavement of people on the sole qualifier that their skintone made them less human than the glorious whites. Excerting dominance due to might, as the African slavetraders did, is only vaguely comparable to exerting dominance due to the subject of said dominance being subhuman, as the white slave purchasers and subsequent traders and owners did. It is certainly not a "gotcha, American slavery wasn't that bad, dawg!" like some people seem to think it is. --- "That thick shaft that causes women to shudder!" ... Copied to Clipboard! |
