Not sure if this is fact but I heard one reason men will tend to make more money when working the same job is BECAUSE they tend to negotiate their salary. You cant expect your boss to just offer you more money straight up, its YOUR job to initiate negotiations. I want to fact check this but im too lazy.

That does tend to be a major factor (although here, she did try to negotiate and they turned her down), but it's all too common to cite that explanation and then leave it at that instead of questioning why women are less likely to negotiate salaries, usually because the people advancing such a position are more interested in dismissing feminists than actually having a serious intellectual discussion and trying to improve the world.
