Topic	I need an outsider's perspective and possible advice for my wife and I.

There is a distinct possibility that a whole hell of a lot of white collar jobs will become permanent telework as things have gone pretty damn smoothly since the pandemic forced work from home. Like you said, it will take time for things to get approved by unions and senior leadership. I'm not sure what you don't like about the area. You've got all the museums and culture in DC. You've got the Shenandoah National Park not too far away. Ocean City and the beaches aren't too far. NYC and Philly are possible day trips. Weather is decent. I would continue to rent, despite how much you don't want to.
