Every group is different. Some people only really enjoy the game if they are DMing it. If you want to DM a game you might have to find different people if just playing isnt their thing.
I mean, if you've ever searched online for D&D and other role playing groups to join (and I have, many hours over half a dozen major sites), the DMs looking for players topics/threads fill up w/ interest VERY fast unless the DM has really unappealing house rules or something.
While as players looking for a DM topics/threads tend to go unanswered.

Being a (good) DM requires putting in way more effort than being a player does, so I don't think it's surprising or controversial that there are way less people wanting to be DMs than players... Heck, half the DMs I ever had were only DM b/c no one else wanted to do it and someone "stepped up" (which is how I became a DM, lol).
