Nothing was too hard to follow or understand. But DDD was really the first time they just went balls to the wall with crazy shit, and all the new games afterwards folllowed suit. It's barely even a "story" anymore, just a nonstop string of random plot points and mysteries they throw out in order to goad you into buying more products, with no actual end in sight. And the diehard fans eat the shit out of it. This tbh.
