any particular reason why its considered such a good source of calcium (other than its rich in calcium)? Like why cant humans eat it for all dat calcium too?

IIRC you just strap it to the branch or cage where it can nibble on it as needed. I don't think it's so much a 'good source' as it is 'a good source for birds'. I.E. the reason they use it is the bone is workable by most pet birds and their beaks.
