Topic	How on earth do you set up a new email account these days?

I got an invite here on GameFAQs (I think it was on LUE), made my internet nickname account, and when that one got invites, I made my FirstnameLastname account. Now other people who are also named like me keep signing me up for stuff, trying to reset my password for stuff like FB, I get email receipts for their purchases, etc. Same here. I remember being told gmail didnt differentiate between firstnamelastname@ and firstname.lastname@ so I just stopped using it for anything personal in case incoming emails were sent to others. My alter ego is signed up on a black dating site, has a kid in a New Jersey school, and belongs to a civil war reenactment society in South Carolina.
