The second and especially the third episode were also really good. Love how the MOTW tied into the world building of the pilot, and the focus on the Captain leading the plot ground action. The character focus on the attack team is generally really nice, because usually I feel like the humans in Ultraman (mainly the older series) suffer from Huey/Dewey/Louie syndrome. They dropped the worldbuilding/lore after the 3rd episode unfortunately. I know Ultraman is typically an anthology show, but I was really getting into it. Hope it comes back soon. 11 episodes in and it's still good though. I absolutely adore the effects of the era. Idk if this show still uses rotoscoping for the special attacks or if they moved on to computer graphics by this point (Gridman was apparently partly an experiment with new computer graphic techniques) but they still maintain that sort of...idk...tangible(?) quality. Sometime in the 2000s toku cgi effects started looking too clean and video-gamey and it's only gotten worse. (oldwomanyellsatclouds.jpg) >_> Anyways it's cool. Favorite episodes so far are 3, then the one with the astronauts whose spaceship turned into a kaiju, the one with the alien whose wife and kids died and wants revenge, and the Halloween episode.
