When this gets announced (after Elon receives the full payment), bitcoin prices are gonna shoot up, maybe even 20% or so. Boom, Elon practically sold a car for 20% more than it's worth, in addition to increasing the price of what he already owns. If he's smart, he'll maybe even buy some more bitcoin just before the announcement.
