Didn't realise this was the country near mexico, for some reason I was confusing it with the one owned by the USA (puerto rico?) Yeah it's really safe. I lived there for almost a full year. My only recommendation is to take a lot of bug spray if you go to the beaches. I got very sick from what I'm assuming was mosquito bites. Had to get lymph nodes removed.
