I also stayed in Costa Rica in a forest hotel with a view of the ocean, large lizards would walk right up to the pool area and hang around just chilling, monkeys would also come right up the pool as it was hanging off the side with the ocean view, lots of other smaller wildlife to be seen all the time too. it was my favorite part of the trip seeing the animals.
It was this hotel, looks like they redid the aesthetics in the 12+ years since I've been, when I went it didn't look nearly this nice, nor did the Air Conditioning work which was hell in the summer. Definitly alotta mosquitos for sure, and they always found a way into the room too.
I think I stayed there. Maybe it was another hotel in the same town. Been so long. I remember once the monkeys were right outside the room. I managed to finally see a wild toucan like a week before I left the country for good. ---
