So then, when they decided to make a tv series off of the adventuring party that happens years later, they felt the need to "correct" the OVA to match the source material It's kind of equivalent to, if you were making a TV miniseries based on The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings together, and decided it would be too awkward to shift main characters halfway through, so you just drop Frodo/Sam/Merry/Pippen entirely and rework the plot of LotR to be Bilbo and some of the dwarves being the ones who have to go to Mount Doom. Which, to be honest, wouldn't necessarily be a terrible story. streamofthesky posted... So the tv series is like 8 episodes or so covering the latter half of the OVA, but more true to source material, then it jumps ahead in time to the new group as the main characters. The timeline of the TV series takes place after the first 7 episodes of the OVA. So you basically watch the first half of the OVA, then switch to the TV series. So the last 6 episodes of the OVA and the 27 episodes of the TV show essentially exist as parallel timelines in alternate universes.
