90s were a lot better than 21s century country but 90s was like the black album decade of country. Not horrible but still notably worse and signaled the end.

It's really just radio country that got terrible. There's countless great country acts out now, but we have to actively seek them out because they're not the ones topping the charts. One of the few benefits of radio dying out is that it's becoming more and more common for people to do that rather than just listen to whatever pop country the record labels decided we like.
